He graduated from Bishop Gorman High School, then went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Harvard University. Dr. Rillera returned home to attend UNLV School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2014. After graduating, he spent over 6 years as a dental officer on active duty in the United States Army.
He received an honorable discharge from the Army and finished with the rank of Major. Dr. Rillera feels truly blessed to have had the opportunity to serve his country and to treat the dental needs of our nation's soldiers. While in the Army, he completed a two year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency, earned a master's degree in Oral Biology, and achieved Board Certification through the American Board of General Dentistry.
They have a loveable, yet mischievous dog named Archie. In his spare time, Dr. Rillera loves to travel, watch sports (Go Knights Go!), and try new foods and restaurants. Dr. Rillera has had plenty of opportunity to volunteer of his time, and most recently traveled to Honduras on a dental mission. While there, he and other dentists provided free dental care to hundreds of the local children.
Dr. Rillera also volunteers weekly at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine, where he is an assistant professor in the Clinical Sciences Department. Being a faculty member at the dental school allows him to keep up to date with the latest research and clinical practices. Dr. Rillera loves to teach, and is passionate about preparing the dental students for their future careers as dentists.
